EYE KNOW
Whenever I see a photo of Alexa Chung, like everyone else I admire over her sartorial charm. But I also I can't help but notice how perfect her eyeliner is - girl has got the winged eye down!
Her cateye looks appropriate for even the daytime, where as I usually reserve eyeliner for nighttime. How does she do it?
Then it occurred to me through the magic of New York City I've met her makeup artist before and I could e-mail her to ask. So I did, and this is what her make artist said:

It really is amazing - I love how soft this eyeliner goes on, it's not heavy like liquid liner and stays put. So you can wear it from morning to night. Lots of practice makes perfect, but this is the best way I have personally found to do a winged cateye:
1. Following the natural angle of your lower lash line, make a line at the end of your eye. By not lining your whole eye first, it is easier to re-do if you mess up.2. Once you're happy with your lines (a trick to see if both eye lines are at the same angle is to look in the mirror with your head slightly tilted down and look down - the lines should match), starting at the end draw a line back to the eye, creating a small triangle. It can be as thin or as thick as you like.
3. Fill in the shape and line the rest of your eye. A good way to keep your hand steady is by resting it on your cheek or putting your elbow on a flat surface.
...and voilà!
